This scientific thesis is devoted to the analysis of the emergence, composition, military-political activities and historical significance of the Turkestan Legion, which was established during the Second World War. The study covers the reasons for the establishment of the legion, its place in the German armed forces, the national composition and combat activities of the legionnaires. Also, the political and ideological orientations of the Turkestan Legion, its post-war fate, and the assessments given to this issue in Soviet historiography are considered on the basis of scientific sources. The thesis serves to reveal the complex harmony of the national issue and political interests in wartime conditions
