Mechanism of pro-tumorigenic effect of cancer associated fibroblasts in vivo

Cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs) is known to have both positive and negative influence on tumor growth, and are major components of tumor tissues. However, the underlying mechanism of CAF in pro- and anti-tumorigenic effects remains unclear. Here we discover the mechanism behind the pro-tumorigenic effect of CAFs during early-stage of tumor formation by investigating the differential gene expression of tumor tissues. Following subcutaneous co-injection of cancer and CAFs cells into scid/scid mice, we analyzed mRNA expression of co-injection of cancer cells and CAFs compared with cancer cells and CAFs, respectively. The analysis of gene sequencing data should reveal specifically regulated pathways in the co-injection group, providing insights for the discovery of a novel mechanism of CAFs for tumor progression.
