Mortality treatment data for the invasive tunicate Didemnum vexillum in Sitka, Alaska, 2018

This dataset is composed of 5 data files: 1) D.vex percent cover data for all treated and control plots (ReportData_Dvex2018_PercentCover_Davidsonetal_Oct2019.csv): For D.vex response to treatment data, information is reported as percent cover per quadrat for each plot and time period (before and after treatment application), along with colony orientation and plot substrate assessments. 2) Background community data for all treated and control plots (ReportData_Dvex2018_SpeciesAbundance_Davidsonetal_Oct2019.csv): Background community data includes presence of each taxon (species) in twenty 1m2 quadrats along either side of a 10m transect line, per plot and time period. 3) Results of discovery challenge experiments (‘ReportData_Dvex2018_DvexMimics_Davidsonetal_Oct2019.csv): The mimic discovery experiment data provide results of a ‘hide-and-seek’ trial and report the proportion of D.vex fakes found per trial. 4) Detailed information on chlorine application and neutralization (ReportData_Dvex2018_Chlorine_Davidsonetal_Oct2019.csv): Chlorine application data reports the time and amount of treatment applied, as well as the neutralization process undertaken as appropriate (neutralization occurred when 4hr measurements of plots indicated chlorine presence and sodium thiosulfate was added). 5) Results of rhodamine dye trials (ReportData_Dvex2018_Rhodamine_Davidsonetal_Oct2019): All data was taken by in Sitka, Alaska, during a Didemnum vexillum removal project from May-August 2018, led by Ian Davidson from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and Tammy Davis of Alaska’s Department of Fish & Game. Rhodamine dye trials data reflect measurements of levels of dye retained within the enclosure by comparing dye inside and outside the curtain. These dye tests were conducted prior to any addition of chlorine to a plot.
