Metagenomic analysis of rumen and rectal microbiota in fine-wool sheep with divergent residual feed intake

This study generated shotgun metagenomic sequencing data from rumen and rectal contents of polytocous fine-wool sheep with divergent residual feed intake (RFI). The aim of the dataset is to characterize microbial community composition and functional potentials related to feed efficiency. Samples were collected from low- and high-RFI sheep, and the resulting metagenomes provide a resource for investigating host–microbiome interactions in ruminants.
