Genomic characteristics of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales from wastewater in northeast Japan

Wastewater is a major reservoir of antimicrobial resistance in the environment, requiring the One Health approach to antimicrobial resistance at the human-animal-environment interface. Hospital wastewater comes together with urban wastewater in wastewater treatment plants.In this study, we investigated the genomic features of carbapenem-resistant organisms isolated from wastewater samples in a hospital and a municipal wastewater treatment plant.
