Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are widely present and persistent in the environment and exposure can occur via multiple pathways. Human and animal PFAS exposure has been associated with alterations in thyroid hormones, immunologic function, lipid metabolism, liver effects and other adverse health outcomes.
