Coat colour and candidate pigmentation-gene genotypes in two local horse breeds

Objectively measured CIELAB coat colour at five body regions and genotypes at 12 160 SNPs from ten candidate pigmentation regions and ten size-matched control regions, for 60 horses of the Bosnian Mountain Horse and the Slovenian Posavje Horse. The dataset accompanies a study of how much continuous coat-colour variation can be predicted from candidate pigmentation genes, benchmarked against a matched control panel.
