In the present study, we evaluated the impact of enzymatically modified starch (EMS) on the cecal digesta-associated bacterial metagenome and fermentation metabolites in growing pigs. We performed a comprehensive characterization of the porcine cecal microbiota by using Illumina MiSeq sequencing of 16S rRNA tags in combination with quantitative PCR (qPCR).
