Maps of dynamic tundra-forest vegetation on Kola Peninsula

Results of comparison maps and aero photos and satellite images on Kola Peninsula, Russia during the period 1962-1986 and 1986-2004.

Results of map comparison contain plots of different in vegetation cover during the period 1961-1986. But these plots were not approved by aero photos on the base of which these maps were created. Validation of these results for 5 control sites has shown, that there were no changes in vegetation cover on this territory, and plots, that were found on the maps with different types of vegetation are the mistakes of cartographers. It was mistakes of cartographers.

Results of satellite images comparison contain 4 maps of dynamic, which include 5 classes of vegetation: forest, forest-tundra, lichen tundra, wetland and water, and their conditions: increase, decrease or stable.
