Whole genome sequence analysis of Ceratonia siliqua, a legume that produces the unique galactomannan.

Ceratonia siliqua is a leguminose plant. The seed contains a various type of polysaccharide, including galactomannan, known as Locust bean gum (LBG). LBG is a very important food additive widely used in the food industry. However, the metabolic pathways for LGB biosynthesis and the genes involved in the biosynthesis remain unclear. In this study, we determine the whole genome sequence of Ceratonia Siliqua to identify the genes that function in the galactomannan biosynthesis.
