资源简介:
The FleX-RAY project employed plastic scintillating fibres to detect high energy (X-ray, gamma, cosmic) photons and particles. Due to the very low light yields expected, silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) were used to detect the visible light generated by scintillation. Due to the very high sensitivity of SiPMs, coating of the fibres was required, to shield them from ambient light. A custom set-up was constructed with a twofold purpose. One, to measure the effectiveness of the coating in preventing ambient light from entering the fibres, and second, to measure the attenuation of light travelling through the fibres.

A description of the setup, the instruments used and the methodology devised to determine the required parameters are described in the following publication: Comanescu, B. et al. (2023) ‘Plastic Fiber Low Light Measurement Method’, in The eurasia proceedings of science, technology, engineering & mathematics.
