This statistic shows the results of a survey on the number of people who practice martial arts (excluding boxing, judo, taekwondo, tai chi, wrestling, ju-jitsu, karate, and chinese martial arts) at least once a month at any intensity for any duration in England between 2007 and 2016. The survey was conducted via telephone interviews and the latest update on it was conducted for the time period between October 2015 and September 2016 with a total of 163,108 respondents. The data collected resulted in the conclusion that as of September 2016, approximately 103,100 adults in England practiced some form of martial arts on a monthly basis. Since 2012 the number of people who practiced martial arts within the last 28 days has thus been decreasing from around 135,000. This makes a decrease of about 24 percent over three years. When compared to the number of participants in karate, judo or taekwondo, it appears that these specific forms of martial arts show a similar trend of decline in most recent years.
