Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2023: Assessing the Aerodynamics of Manufactured Homes Using Wind Tunnel Testing

This project discusses the wind tunnel test of a model manufacture home conducted at the Florida International University Wall of Wind Experimental Facility. From this project, we hope to improve the building and design codes for manufacture homes, improving their resistance to intense windstorms. This project also has the objective of validating a finite element model created by the University of Alabama. This data could be reused in future studies to provide base line information on the behavior of manufactured homes and how they react under extreme wind-related weather events. This project will functions as a stepping stone for future research. The information presented here may be of interest to wind engineers, researchers, those interested in structural health monitoring, and those interested in manufactured homes.
