Multifunctional features of perovskite-type ferro-manganite La0.5Ca0.5Mn0.5Fe0.5O3

Characterization of the La0.5Ca0.5Mn0.5Fe0.5O3 material is reported, as well as the structural analysis, optical and magnetic response measurements, density of states and band structure calculations, in order to establish the types of interaction that give rise to the macroscopically observed physical properties. In addition to experimental techniques, the approach of the paper applies theoretical methods for the study of the electronic characteristics of the material, as those based on density functional theory (DFT) have been shown to be appropriately useful in understanding the properties of perovskite family materials.
