Metabolomics dataset of serum and skeletal muscle in patients with intermittent claudication undergoing repeated remote ischaemic preconditioning (sham-controlled randomised trial)

This dataset contains targeted metabolomic profiles of serum and skeletal muscle samples collected from patients with peripheral artery disease and intermittent claudication (IC), as part of a sham-controlled randomised clinical trial investigating repeated remote ischaemic preconditioning (RIPC). The study was conducted between January 2022 and April 2023 and included 42 patients with IC (Fontaine stage IIa–IIb). Participants were randomised to receive either RIPC or a sham intervention daily for 28 days. Data structure The dataset is provided in tabular format, where each row represents a single sample. Data preprocessing Missing metabolite values were imputed using the missForest package of R. Metabolite concentrations in skeletal muscle samples were normalised to total protein content.
