Heterotrophic nitrifying-aerobic denitrifying bacteria with multi-stress tolerance hold great potential for industrial applications. A novel strain, Halomonas sp. ZC-1, was isolated from chemical wastewater and exhibited excellent nitrogen removal performance under both low temperature and a wide range of salinities. Notably, under conditions of 10 degrees C and 10 percent NaCl, the maximum ammonia removal efficiencies reached 94.9 percent and 83.5 percent, respectively, with the highest average ammonia removal rate of 3.36 mg/L/h.
