MicroCT-derived trabecular morphometry, volumes of interest (VOIs), and finite element analysis dataset of vertebral bone in South American cervids (Hippocamelus bisulcus and Pudu puda) (2nd version)

This dataset accompanies the manuscript “Vertebral trabecular bone microarchitecture and mechanical response in South American cervids revealed by microCT–FEA: the Patagonian huemul (Hippocamelus bisulcus) and the Southern pudu (Pudu puda)”and provides the complete set of data and methodological resources supporting the microstructural and biomechanical analyses presented in the study. The repository includes: (i) raw and processed micro-computed tomography (microCT) output files (.txt) generated with CTAn software for each analyzed vertebral volume of interest (VOI), containing full trabecular morphometric parameters, acquisition settings, and segmentation thresholds; (ii) a compiled dataset (Table S1) with quantitative trabecular microarchitectural variables used for interspecific and regional comparisons; (iii) a video illustrating the definition and spatial selection of the VOI employed for trabecular analysis; (iv) the exact volumes of interest (VOIs) used in CTAn for trabecular microarchitecture analysis, allowing direct replication of the analyzed regions; and (v) a detailed record of finite element analysis (FEA) configuration, including mesh convergence data, element type, boundary conditions, and modeling parameters implemented in ANSYS.
