Apulian municipalities according to the prevailing tourist category. Year 2020

Law No 77 of 17 July 2020 laying down urgent measures in the field of health, support for work and the economy, as well as social policies related to the COVID-19 epidemiological emergency mandated ISTAT to define “a classification of economic activities with regard to areas with a high tourist density, in order to highlight their territorial touristic nexus...” (Article 182). On the basis of this mandate, ISTAT has developed a synthetic tourist density index that allows a classification of municipalities into six groups: five for tourist municipalities with a density ranging from very low to very high; the sixth group concerns non-tourist municipalities.
