The Carbon Footprint of Astronomical Research Infrastructures

This record contains the data and scripts used for the paper "The Carbon Footprint of Astronomical Research Infrastructures". The Python script "adsquery.py" queries the ADS database to extract the information on the number of papers and the number of authors attributed to a given research infrastructure for the paper. The Python script "bootstrap.py" extrapolates the carbon footprint from a selected number of astronomical research infrastructures to all astronomical facilities that were active in 2019. The file "ri-carbon-footprint.xls" contains all activity data and emission factors used for the work and all the results that were produced from these data.
