We selected 28 forest stands consisting in eight chestnut monocultures and 20 two-species mixtures associating chestnut with pine, ash or oak in natural forests of Tuscany (Italy). In each site, we sampled leaves with green galls on chestnut trees and characterized fungal endophytes communities associated to these ACGW galls and surrounding leaf tissues by Illumina sequencing of the Internal Transcribed Spacer 1 (ITS1) region
