Common Safety Indicators (CSIs) allow annual monitoring of the general development of railway safety and facilitate the assessment of the achievement of common safety objectives. A significant accident is an accident involving at least one railway vehicle in motion and having the following consequences: death or serious injury, or serious damage (minimum EUR 150 000) to rolling stock, tracks, other facilities or the environment, or significant disruption of traffic (minimum 6 hours on the main track).
