VPRS 15578 Index of Purchasers, Section 113, Land Act 1898 and Section 146, Land Act 1901

This series provides an index to persons able to purchase land under the provisions of Section 113 of the Land Act 1898 and Section 146 of the Land Act 1901. These Sections allowed those who had held licenses to occupy land for a wide variety of purposes. Those who had fulfilled the terms of the license and had made improvements or erected buildings could apply to purchase the land under Section 99 of the Land Act 1898 and Section 145 of the Land Act 1901. If there were no objections to alienation, the Board of Land and Works (VA 744) would give the licensee an exclusive right to purchase at an appraised price with money already paid as license fees being subtracted from the total purchase price.Details given are the correspondence number, the name of the purchaser, the location and extent of the land, the amount to be paid, the date of payment, the date of the receipt of the Red Faced Return (RFR) reporting on the improvements and some details of Government Gazette notices. The correspondence number was also used as the file number.
