Transgenerational effects of paternal early life stress on the transcriptome of the medial prefrontal cortex in rat offspring

Early life stress can have transgenerational effects on offspring phenotypes. In this study, we investigated the paternal transmission of such effects. F1 male SD rats were subjected to a maternal separation (MS) paradigm, a model of early life stress. We then performed transcriptome analysis (RNA-seq) on the medial prefrontal cortex of their F2 offspring (male and female) during adolescence (5 weeks of age) to identify sex-specific transgenerational changes in gene expression.
