This study investigated differential transcriptomic expression of the hypothalamus, liver, and ovary of helmeted guinea fowl (HGF) during their laying and non-laying periods in Nigeria. This research explored gene expression dynamics in key reproductive organs to uncover potential differentially expressed genes (DEGs) crucial for egg production in high-laying and low-laying helmeted guinea fowl. Tissue samples were collected from guinea fowl grouped into high-laying and low-laying groups, with four birds per group in each period. The findings from this study shed light on the molecular mechanisms underlying egg production in guinea fowl, offering insights that could aid in breeding strategies to enhance egg production and improve the economic value of guinea fowl farming in Nigeria.
