There are few direct measurements of the intracluster medium (ICM) velocitystructure despite its importance for understanding cluster physics. It has beenshown that the EPIC-pn energy scale can be calibrated with the Cu Kainstrumental line to measure bulk flows of the ICM. Applying this technique wehave analyzed the velocity distribution of clusters involving AGN feedback(Virgo and Centaurus) and a relaxed system (Ophiuchus). We propose to observethe Galaxy cluster A3266 (total exposure time 784 ks) a well-known mergingsystem made up of several subclusters to produce high resolution maps of thevelocity structure of the ICM. A3266 is an excellent target to investigatemotions involving merging phenomena. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
