This project focuses on the discovery and characterization of a new ant genus, Unicumyrmex, from the subfamily Myrmicinae. The research integrates morphological examination with molecular data, including genomic sequences obtained from shotgun sequencing. This submission includes Unicumyrmex fushanensis, collected from the Fushan Experimental Forest in Taiwan. The samples were preserved in ethanol and subjected to shotgun sequencing to obtain high-quality DNA sequences.
