Level of living 1998 - Cross sectional study - Health

Statistics Norway's (SSB) Level of living - cross sectional study (with rotating themes) have as it's primary objective to, over time, cover all important issues concerning the level of living. The topics have rotated in the following way: Working conditions in 1996, 2000, 2003 and 2006; Living conditions, community and leisure in 1997, 2001 and 2004; Health in 1998, 2002 and 2005.

The main topic of the Level of Living Survey 1998 is health. The health issues that are covered includes:

-personal assessment of health
-illness/disability
-consequences of illness
-injuries
-use of health services
-functional ability
-care
-social contact
-lifestyle

For parts of the sample (women 18-49 years), an additional survey was included, on the subject of fertility. This is documented in a separate file and is also made available at NSD. The survey is also integrated with SSB's omnibus survey no. 3, 1998, which naturally increases the number of topics included the survey. Thus, the series of questions specifically concerning smoking habits is documented as a separate file, also available at NSD.
