This spore forming strain BCM9, which is authorized for human consumption and already available in a wide selection of functional foods or as dietary supplement. It can survive the mild heat-treatments used for sterilization and withstand the harsh conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, i.e., the low pH of the gastric barrier.
