Italy: catastrophe insurance gross written premiums Q3 2016, by type

This statistic shows the distribution of property insurance gross written premiums that include protection against natural catastrophes in Italy as of the third quarter of 2016, sorted by type of natural catastrophe. At that time, a large proportion of property insurance policies (95 percent of the total) had no additional protection against natural catastrophes. Around two percent of the total policies had, respectively, coverage against losses due to earthquakes and floods. Only 0.7 percent of the policies had protection against both earthquake- and flood damages.
