Availability of copper ion is crucial for the developmental life cycle of Streptomyces. The addition of a copper-chelating agent bathocupuroinedisulfonic acid (BCDA) to medium inhibits aerial growth and secondary metabolite formation in Streptomyces griseus. This is the whole genome sequencing project regarding S. griseus mutants that perform developmental growth even in the presence of BCDA (i.e. BCDA-resistant mutants).
