The publication, Transportation in the United States: a Review, has
been released by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS,
"http://www.bts.gov") of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT,
"http://www.dot.gov"). This publication is a summary of the Bureau's
annual report to Congress, Trasportation Statistics Annual Report
(TSAR) for the past four years.

The United States has the largest transportation system in the world.
I serves 260 million people and 6 million business establishments
spread over the foutrh largest country (in land area) in the world.
This 31-page report provides a snapshot of the trasportation system,
highlighting its physical charecteristics and trends in passenger
travel and freight movement. The report also examines the economic
performance, saftey record, environmental impact of the transportation
system.
