Orders of arrival of knights and horses of the Quintana di Foligno rides

The dataset refers to the orders of arrival of the knight/horse pair in the period 2000-2016, for the two rides of the Quintana (challenge and rematch) that take place every year. The challenge generally takes place in June, the rematch in September. The Palio takes place in the stadium “Campo de li Giochi” of Foligno, which has the shape of an 8 bordered by a series of flags and in the center is placed the statue of the god Mars holding a ring. The single carousel takes place in three rounds. At each round the knight tries to make the journey three times in the shortest possible time and to pull the ring from the arm of the god Mars. The diameter of the rings of the 1st, 2nd and 3 rd rounds is 8 cm, 6 cm and 5 cm respectively. The one who totals the highest score in the shortest total time is proclaimed the winner of the carousel.
