The study aimed at elucidating the origin of Saxifraga wahlenbergii and phylogenetic relationships to the recently described narrow endemic of the Eastern Alps, S. styriaca and other Saxifraga species. The dataset contains targeted next-generation sequencing data for a refined analysis of nrITS variants in order to detect signatures of ancient hybridization.
