Basic Geological Map of R. Croatia M 1:50000

Downloaded from the Geoportal NIPP — http://geoportal.nipp.hr/hr Although the research started quite earlier, after 2012, by printing the “Instructions for making the Basic Geological Map of the Republic of Croatia M 1:50000” (Corbar et al., 2012), the works were intensified and part of the sheets in the final stage. The production of this map is based on lithostratigraphic units, which represents a more significant contribution compared to cronostratigraphic units (OGK M 1:100000), as it allows for the possibility that the rocks of different lithological characteristics and the environment were formed simultaneously. This approach enables more reliable and quality production of engineering, geology and hydrogeological maps and projects and studies such as environmental conservation, potential landslides, promising aquifers, etc. The basic Geological Map with separate lithostratigraphic units ensures a more adequate exploitation of all types of mineral resources.
