资源简介:
Between 30 November 2009 and 7 May 2010, Brockington and Associates conducted intensive cultural resources survey fieldwork of a total of 2,519 acres at six different reservoirs in western Arkansas. This project was conducted under Contract No. W912-P9-D-0537 with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District (Corps) as part of an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program enacted by congress in 2009.
Archival research defined no previously recorded archaeological sites within the survey tracts. There were no previously recorded architectural or other historic resources recorded at any of the survey locations. Field investigations resulted in the identification of 46 previously unrecorded archaeological sites. Of these, twelve sites have unknown eligibility for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and would require further research. These include: four high density lithic scatters; one large rockshelter site; and seven lower density, but probably closely affiliated, lithic scatters related to activity areas for upland procurement and processing. The remaining 34 sites are all recommended NRHP-ineligible. This ARRA-funded task order employed 45 specialists for a period of 16 months.
