The impact of a peptide drug conjugate on transcription and translation in the modulation of ocular fibrosis

Peptide therapeutic advances have gained prominence in recent decades as a result of thetechnique and expense involved in developing for Targeted cellular therapy. Whenantimetabolite drugs are used in ocular clinical care, fibrosis is a serious problem. Modulationof the fibrosis/scarring process after trabeculectomy surgery is critical for patient care. Usingprimary human tenon fibroblast cells, we synthesised a unique cell-penetrating peptide(VRF2019) and conjugated to mitomycin to make a composite compound (Pep-M) andinvestigated its influence on biological, and cellular processes using multiomic approaches.
