Gippsland Lakes - Connecting and Linking the Plains to Picnic Arm on the Lakes

This project will build on past works by the landholder and will link approximately 15 ha of EPBC listed vegetation on freehold land to the Ramsar listed Gippsland Lakes. The project will construct a new stock exclusion fence to protect and enhance approximately 2 ha of ephemeral wetland (linking two existing stock exclusion areas) and another fence will protect and enhance a regenerated Gippsland Plains Grassy Woodlands shelter belt that acts as a wildlife corridor. Approximately 1.8 kms of existing fencing will be upgraded to manage kangaroo numbers and to protect productive farmland pasture. Weed control will enhance remnant vegetation and a 1080 fox control program to manage fox numbers will complement other programs in the area.
