Animal feed harbors microorganisms that may carry various antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). However, few studies have focused on the presence and prevalence of ARGs in animal feed, thus ignoring the risk of ARGs transferring from feed to animals and then to humans. Here, we investigated the distribution of ARGs and microbial communities in chicken feed, as well as the horizontal transfer of ARGs in strains.
