Pollutants and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Scoping Review Search Strategy

The databases included in this search are: PubMed (NLM), Embase (Elsevier), Environmental Science Index (ProQuest), ProQuest Public Health, Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate Analytics) using a combination of keywords and subject headings. A grey literature search included ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, TRIP Pro, and MedRxiv. All final searches were performed on April 30, 2024 by the librarian and were fully reported. A summary of the search results: • PubMed (NLM) from 1809 to 4/30/2024 (1,081 results) • Embase (Elsevier) from 1974 to 4/30/2024 (1,721 results) • Environmental Science Index (ProQuest) from 1781 to 4/30/2024 (1,119 results) • ProQuest Public Health from 1934 to 4/30/2024 (263 results) • Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate Analytics) from 1900 to 4/30/2024 (1,034 results) • ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global from 1637 to 4/30/2024 (88 results) • TRIP Pro from 1867 to 4/30/2024 (127 results) • MedRxiv from 2019 to 4/30/2024 (29 results) The search resulted in 5,462 studies. 2,004 duplicate studies were found and omitted by the librarian [OGC] using EndNote 20. This resulted in 3,365 records to screen from databases or registers and 93 records to screen from other methods, resulting in a total of 3,458 records. Studies were screened by title and abstract by two blinded and independent reviewers. If a tiebreaker was needed, a third reviewer was called in. This process was repeated for full text article screening and article selection.
