Expression of Wnt4 during nephron development

Wnt9b secreted from the ureteric bud induces expression of Wnt4 in the surrounding metanephric mesenchyme (Karner et al. 2011, Yu et al. 2012, Ramalingam et al. 2018). Wnt4 promotes epithelialization of pre-tubular aggregates of metanephric mesenchyme, resulting in the formation of renal vesicles. Wnt9b also induces proliferation of a subset of metanephric mesenchyme to maintain a pool of nephron progenitors.

Wnt9b 由输尿管芽分泌，可诱导周围生肾间充质中 Wnt4 的表达（Karner 等人，2011年，Yu 等人，2012年，Ramalingam 等人，2018年）。Wnt4 可促进生肾间充质前管状聚集体的上皮化，从而形成肾囊。此外，Wnt9b 还可诱导生肾间充质中一部分细胞的增殖，以维持肾元祖细胞的细胞库。
