Implicit bias

This study explores the integration of implicit bias education into an undergraduate criminology program. Implicit bias, the unconscious attitudes that influence decisions, is particularly significant in criminal justice, where fairness is critical. The study involved embedding educational objectives related to implicit bias into a second-year module and evaluating students' perceptions before and after the intervention. Results indicated a significant increase in students' confidence in understanding, recognizing, and mitigating implicit bias. The findings suggest that structured educational interventions can enhance self-awareness and critical thinking about bias, important for future criminal justice professionals.
