Genetic differentiation of beaked hazelnut (Corylus cornuta) in western North America

These data were used to test for population genetic structure of the beaked hazelnut (Corylus cornuta Marsh.) British Columbia. We test the hypothesis that the Indigenous cultivation of perennial species, like hazelnuts, may have led to observable genetic differentiations in contemporary populations. We sampled individual hazelnuts (n=219) representing three distinct regions in British Columbia (Canada). We assessed 9650 genome- wide single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identified with nextRAD genotyping-by-sequencing libraries.
