Whole-genome sequences were used to evaluate the distribution of the cold shock protein gene cspA, specific psychrotolerant and mesophilic signatures in the 16S rRNA gene, virulence genes and assignment to panC gene phylogenetic groups. WGS revealed relationships between growth patterns in BHI at 7°C, panC phylogenetic groups and specific nucleotide changes in the cspA sequences at positions 45, 78, 90 and 96. These findings show that in combination, specific nucleotide changes in the cold shock protein gene and panC phylogenetic groups can be used to predict psychrotolerant behaviour of B. cereus strains at 7°C
