资源简介:
This dataset replicates the analyses in "Money Talks? Financial Incentives and Party Support for Candidates from Underrepresented Groups", which studies how vote-based public financing incentives affect party behavior toward candidates from underrepresented groups in Brazil. A 2021 reform doubled the weight of votes cast for women and Afro-Brazilian candidates in federal lower-house races only, creating a within-state, same-year contrast with state-level races (no incentive). We assemble party-level panels and candidate-level microdata to test whether parties expanded nominations and redirected resources toward these groups and whether such efforts translated into votes and seats. The empirical strategy relies on Difference-in-Differences with event-study diagnostics and doubly-robust specifications.
