Climatic water balance in winter in Lower Saxony 1971-2000

The map shows the mean climate water balance (in mm) in the hydrological winter half-year (Nov.-Apr.) for the 30-year period 1971-2000. This indicator provides in the first approximation a measure of regional water availability and indicates whether the vegetation in an area may be affected by water shortages. The climatic water balance is calculated from the difference in rainfall and potential evaporation.
