FutuRaM - Composition - Consolidated Data - Vehicles EU27+4

This dataset provides vehicle composition data for EU27+4 from 1972 to 2050. The data are given in kilograms per vehicle and are organised in a four-layer structure: product, component, material, and element. Layer 1 represents the vehicle category. Layer 2 represents components. Layer 3 represents materials, or shadowMaterial where no material split is available. Layer 4 represents elements. The workbook includes a Read_me sheet that explains the columns, vehicle key coding system, and tree structure. The dataset includes direct vehicle components such as BMS, EESystem, catalyst, powerElectronics, tractionMotorInduction, and tractionMotorPM. It also includes material groups such as castAluminium, castIron, highStrengthSteel, magnesium, mildSteel, and wroughtAluminium. The elements covered are Ag, Al, Au, Cu, Dy, Fe, La, Mg, Mn, Mo, Nb, Nd, Pd, Pt, Rh, Si, and other_element. The vehicle composition data extends work developed over the last decade. This includes the EU Horizon 2020 ProSUM project, “Prospecting Secondary raw materials in the Urban mine and Mining waste” (Grant Agreement No. 641999), and later work commissioned by the Joint Research Centre, including the report by Løvik et al. (2021), “Material composition trends in vehicles: critical raw materials and other relevant metals” (EUR 30916 EN, JRC126564, doi:10.2760/351825). Battery composition is not included as a component in the vehicle composition data, as battery materials are analysed separately in this Project.
