Purple Aster's on a randomly placed half meter belt transect were measured on 23/09/2014 at approximately 3:45 near Danby woods on the York university Keele campus.The Purple Aster's were measured for: the height of the plants, the number of leaves and number of flowers on the plant, the distance along the transect, and how crowded the plant was. The same person (Colleen S.) took all the measurements for data consistency. 30 individual plants were measured. The area where the transect was placed is a grassland with a great abundance and varying distribution of surrounding shrubs and plants. The plants species was chosen for abundance and accessibility to take measurements.
