Natura 2000: Bird protection

A Community bird protection area is one of three types of international nature conservation areas: Community Bird Protection Areas, EC Habitats Areas and Ramsar Areas. The former are collectively referred to as Natura 2000 sites. The habitats of many bird species deteriorate or are directly threatened. Bird protection areas help to maintain and secure habitats. In Denmark, the areas are especially important for many waterbirds. Each area is designated to protect certain bird species.
