This dataset is based on an accepted article entitled "stable barium isotope dynamics during estuarine mixing", which includes:Table 1: Salinity, dissolved barium (DBa) concentrations, stable barium isotopic compositions (δ137BaDBa and δ138BaDBa), and barite saturation state (SS) in the surface waters at sampling stations of the Yangtze and Pearl River Estuary and adjacent shelf areas. Also shown are DBa concentrations and isotopic compositions in the bottom waters of the Pearl River Estuary in January 2017.Table 2: Dissolved barium (DBa) concentrations and stable barium isotopic compositions (δ137BaDBa and δ138BaDBa) in upstream freshwater of the Yangtze and Pearl River.Table 3: Model estimation of the fractionation factor 138ε (Eqs. (S8) and (S10)) during particle adsorption of dissolved barium (DBa) in the river endmember of the Yangtze and Pearl River Estuary. The initial DBa concentration and its isotopic composition ([DBa]0 and δ138BaDBa_0 in Eqs. (S6), (S7), and (S9)) are determined by the effective river water endmember in each estuary, which are deduced by extrapolation of conservative DBa-salinity and δ138BaDBa-salinity relationships at high salinities to zero salinity (i.e., DBaeff and δ138BaDBa_eff).Table 4: Total suspended matter (TSM), exchangeable particulate barium (PBa) concentrations, and stable barium isotopic compositions (δ137BaPBa and δ138BaPBa) of suspended particles collected at stations in the Pearl River Estuary in January 2017.Table 5: Salinity, dissolved barium (DBa) concentrations, and stable barium isotopic compositions (δ137BaDBa and δ138BaDBa) in waste water samples around the Pearl River Estuary in May 2016.
