Microbial metabarcoding of coral tissues confirmed the presence of chemosynthetic bacteria, dominated by thiotrophic groups within the Thioglobaceae family known to be symbionts, such as SUP05. These results also uncovered an association with methanotrophic bacteria within the Methylomonadaceae family, including species from the MMG-2 group also known to be symbionts.
